Being beaten at a mosque because he was suspected of being a thief, a student was killed

PojokId. A student named Muhammad Khaidir (23) was beaten by residents in a mosque in Gowa district, South Sulawesi. Khaidir was suspected of being a thief. He finally died.

Gowa Police Chief AKBP Shinto Silitonga said the tragedy occurred on Monday (10/12) last week, starting from Khaidir's arrival to the house of a resident with the initials YDS, who lived near the mosque. Khaidir went to the house after going to the mosque to offer prayers, but the door was closed. Khaidir banged on YDS's house with the intention of asking that the mosque door be opened.

"The victim came to the house with the initials YDS, a tailor near the mosque. The victim knocked on the door of his house violently, but the door was not opened so the victim walked into the mosque," AKBP Shinto said during a telephone confirmation about the tragedy Monday.

Khaidir's door was apparently threatened by the owner of the house, so YDS ran through the door of another house, then headed for the mosque.
"The information of the family concerned wants to do the prayer. There is misinformation, there is a miscommunication that this house considers as if there is a threat to him," said AKBP Shinto.

At the mosque, YDS met with RDN (47), marbut mosque. RDN then uses loudspeakers to talk as if there were burglars in the mosque.

Khaidir, who did not feel anything had happened, then headed for the mosque. There are already residents gathered there. The poor young man who was considered the thief was then beaten by the residents.

"The presence of the victims was responded by residents with loudspeakers provocation and caused the presence of the masses and vent it by committing violence and persecution together," said the Shinto AKBP.

"The screams were thieves, but there were no objects stolen, that triggered the residents to come and do violence. It was still based on the information of the suspects. We want the cover both sides we have no comparison and indeed need deepening from the victim's family. "he continued.

Shinto still cannot confirm whether the victim died inside the mosque or outside the mosque after the beating occurred. He said he was still waiting for the results of the autopsy about the exact time the victim died.

Until now, the police have determined 10 suspects involved in the beating action. There is a possibility that there will be additional suspects in this action.
Khaidir's viral video was viral on social media recently. The sadistic acts of people persecuting Khaidir in the mosque were a spectacle of netizens.
