Landslides and Broken Rice Fields PDAMs in Blitar Are Caused by Heavy Rain

JurnalUpdate. High intensity rain flushed Blitar in a few hours. As a result, rice fields in Sumberasri Hamlet, Kemirigede Village, Kesamben District collapsed. Avalanches of rice fields cover a 15-meter long road.

Mud material mixed with rice plants closed the village road to cut access between the two sub-districts. Namely the road from Kesamben District to Nyawangan Village, Doko District. In addition, the accumulation of landslide material has also caused PDAM channels to break.

"The landslide which belonged to Nardi, a resident of Sukorejo, Bumirejoe village, 5 meters long and rice fields belonging to Ismiati's brother," Blitar police chief AKBP Anissullah M Ridha said on Sunday.
Due to the closure of the road, the community must rotate for 4 km if from Doko to Kesamben, or vice versa.

Blitar BPBD together with a platoon of Kesamben police officers worked together to clear landslide material from the streets. Heavy equipment is also imported to speed up the road cleaning process. While PDAM officials also fix broken water lines.

"We bring in heavy equipment from Kendalrejo Talun at 1:00 p.m. WIB so that the road cleaning process will be faster. So that people do not turn far to Kesamben or Doko," he explained.

Meanwhile, the losses suffered by two owners of rice fields and improvements to PDAM pipes are estimated to reach Rp. 15 million. Road cleaning efforts are still ongoing today.
"We appeal to the public to be extra vigilant when passing through landslides prone to landslides. Moreover, the current rainfall intensity is higher in the Blitar region," Anissullah appealed.
